Well, isn't that interesting. I was already aware that I didn't know much about blogging and now the slideshow of Paige and Bandit shows I really don't. I made the slideshow and wasn't aware that it had posted until 5+ hours later without any explanation.
Hopefully the captions on each photo was enough explanation. We old (yeah, I know old is a relative term) people learn a little slower than you young people do. I'll try to do better with the next slideshow I create.

Kirstin Erika Renee' Towle
My oldest granddaughter, Kirstin, also known as Kert, has reached another milestone in her life. She recently started working in her first job.
What better place to start than McDonald's or Mickey D's as her Grandpa used to call it. She visited for a couple of hours this morning with the grandparents and then set off for a day at McDonald's. It was great to have her visit.
Kert now has her driving permit, and regularly talks her Grandma into letting her drive. Oh, wow....that is an experience I never thought I would have. I tend to be a little nervous and apparently attempt to put the break on in the passenger position - I know this happens because I regularly hear from the driver, "Grandma I saw that". Guess being the Grandma in the passenger seat takes a little more practice. I am sure Kirstin will more than gladly give me the time in the passenger seat I need to become more patient, tolerant, whatever the word is to watch a 16 year old granddaughter learn to drive. I'm working on it Kert ! ! !

Brendon the Skateboard Champion
For Brendon's 14th birthday on June 27th, his parents Derek & Lana with the help of Brendon's younger brother, Bryce and sister, Paige built a Half Pipe Skateboard ramp in our backyard.

Brendon's skills are
definitely improving.
Where did my sense
of balance disappear
to and when did it go ??
Amazing what 50 years
will do to a person! ! !
Enjoy your skateboarding, Brendon!
Since then Brendon has been improving his skills and last night was over for another time on the ramp. He has (with his father's approval) lost a couple of the safety precautions the grandmother had thought was necessary. The pictures show that he has somehow lost the elbow and knee pads. But I am sticking to my requirement of "skateboarders in MY backyard must have a helmet on" ! ! ! ! !

House Painting "Party"
Gene, Lee's brother from Long Beach California is visiting for a couple of weeks. He offered before he came over to do any painting that Lee might need to have done. Lee was quick to accept the offer. Now while Gene has been painting the exterior of 3216 for us, Lee has been playing the role of "golf-cart/sidewalk" engineer rather well and I have the picture to prove it.
On the other hand, Gene has very diligently spent many hours painting the house for us and doing a superb job I might add.Gene is the very best of brothers and Lee
and I are blessed to have him here!!
3216 N. 50 East - Before
and 3216 N. 50 East - After
Thank you so very much Gene.
Now it is Lee's job. No more sidewalk supervising for him. He must now complete the building of new shutters for the house. I'll show you his handiwork in a futuer blog !

Playing "Cop"
While mowing the yard at 3216 recently, I was waving to Lee as I passed by him. He as usual was observing my mowing methods, maybe checking to see if I was doing it correctly to his specs. As I turned to head back east, I noticed the golf cart with its driver ( Lee ) had vanished.
I thought - where did he go? I was almost to the end of the yard, and out of the corner of my eye I was startled to see the golf cart ( Lee driving )
parked behind a tree observing me as I passed. Backing up I asked the question, "What are you doing?" His answer gave me pause for concern - "Playing cop" was Lee's answer.

Now I am concerned ..... this golf cart plainly states "Bette's Buggy" on the front license plate.
I wonder??? Will it be sporting red lights and siren the next time I am mowing and it disappears with Lee behind the wheel? Interesting thought!

Blogging ...
This is definitely a new experience. Some friends have been encouraging me to try this 'blogging' thing....and here I am. I tried to tell myself I was too old to learn something new ... but ... We'll see how this all works. I am going to be learning something new. What fun.
We had the Towle Newsletter during the 90's and now blogging. Hopefully you will hear some fun stories about the Indiana Towle's, some interesting items and some just plain crazy stuff about our family. Whatever it all is - hope you enjoy reading about one more fairly ordinary family that calls 'The Towle House' in Indiana home.
